As much as I wallow in self-pity about not having time to be and do everything I want (not on this blog yet, but in my own mind for sure) I seem to make time for mindless competitive television shows. Priorities, indeed. Moderately ashamed to admit it but I was watching "The Voice" last night and imagining if our hiring process could be structured like this show?
Ooooooh, I can see it! My administrative teammates and I would sit with our backs to the candidate as she or he teaches a lesson with students. At any moment, one of us could push the button to select the individual for our team. Our chair would spin around and we'd see, for the first time, the person with amazing skills that would join our staff. The audience would clap their hands with enthusiasm as the candidate's parents would jump up and down and cry as they watched their son or daughter fulfill their childhood dream and think about how this probably means they won't be moving back in after college.
My team and I were feeling very lucky to find such talented people to join our staff for the upcoming year and my hiring season is officially over. Maybe next year we can incorporate a singing competition portion of the process for our own entertainment. I'll have to think about that later. It's Wednesday and tonight's episode of American Idol is awaiting me on my DVR.
Waaaay funny. I would love to add something new to our process. Let's talk.
