I suppose an explanation of the title is a necessary first step. I have a four-year-old daughter who has a bit of an infatuation with all things stereotypically girly: dolls, pink, glitter, dancing...just to name a few that come to mind most readily. The other night she asked me why I had to go to "so many meetings", wondering if the previous night's missed tuck-in at bedtime was due to yet another mystery meeting. My response: "Because I'm the principal, honey." I realized at that moment that I hadn't really used the word "principal" to describe myself before because with a look of enamoration not often seen on the face of my four-year-old diva, she replied, "You're the 'princess'pal?!" Yes, indeed, my dear. I am the princesspal.
Her question is ironic because I like to think of myself as unprincesslike. Yes, I have a mild addiction to jewelry and my closet has no shortage of impractical shoes. But, the jewelry I mostly wear to receive compliments from fourth grade girls to boost my self-esteem and the high heels are to add an extra flair of height-induced intimidation in misbehaving kindergarteners. No, I'm joking. It's all related to a shopping addiction should truth be told. Regardless, I am the princesspal. My daughter said so, so it is. And this is my blog. We'll see what comes of it.
I love the title you chose, Laura! Your blog is great! It's a wnderful way to reflect. Don't be afraid to share it with the world!
